On a side note....

I aced the class! Whoooooooo Hooooooooooo!!!! My first "A" in class since High School!!!! This was a hard one too!

And we move into our place the first weekend in February. Things are chugging along there too. Mom and Sunny stocked me full of necessities at Christmas. I have enough toilet paper to last through the apacolypse! Very very thankful for that though.

Bruiser aka Maggie

O what a night we had last night.

Maggie loves going to the park by our house. She loves running and sniffing and doing all the things dogs love to do at parks. Last night it was dark by the time I took her. Well I normally let her off the leash so she can sniff and do her business without a tether attached to her head. Big mistake!

She took off after a cat and ran face first into a black chain link fence. That's right, she took it right to the muzzle. After a slow walk home I checked her out in the kitchen and discovered blood in her mouth and realized she had split her gums and shaken loose her K9 tooth. Off to emergency we go! I know you are all shocked, but this is NOT the first time we have taken her there. I am surprised she does not have a standing appointment there! Well we leave $100.00 lighter and instructions to administer pain killers every 6 hours and an appointment at our regular vet the next day. A very very very very long night ensues, including me up at 2am to give her the next dose of meds.

Long story short (too late!) diagnosis was good, the tooth had to be pulled and 8 stitches fill her mouth now. Her jaw was not broken though, and that was a huge relief. My baby doggie was so brave! She had to be put under and operated on and has a little shaved leg to prove it. The stress of this whole situation combined with serious financial burdens and lack of sleep made for a very long day. We did not make it home until 6 tonight and yes, it was expensive. Very very expensive. I even had to take out a credit line to pay for it! But it was all worth it, Maggie is sleeping it off right now and almost back to normal. We have another 4 days of meds and special diets but all is well. At least she feels better and her mouth is not as damaged as the nurse thought.

But for now, she has a gap where her big tooth used to be. I was trying to think of famous people with gaps so I can come up with a funny nickname ( I know...I am soooo mature!) but all I could think of was Madonna and Lauren. Nothing any funnier, except calling Maggie "Madge" was not too much of a difference. So for right now we will settle for Bruiser. My tough ass poochie! But the vet added the bows to her ears, not me. Yeah, those were ripped out when we got home!
